I haven’t posted for a few days. The past week has been quite hard on me, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I won’t be able to make my film in Guatemala anymore. The moment I decided that was when I found out that the Secretary of the Department of Social Services of the national government was threatening to take other NGO’s to court who were supporting this film which violates human rights…

I was flabbergasted by this little fact. What damage has been done by Mojoca, including for their own target group, who could have benefited so much from the publicity the film would have generated? This issue doesn’t cease to amaze me. But I have to continue…

I will now make the film in another country. I’ll let you know where when the time is right. For now, I am taking Beate’s advice not to reveal too much. Until the coast has cleared.

Am off to Central America on the 20th of October to find a new protagonist. Will keep posting.

PS – I never translated the press release. That’s because it angers me so much, that I can’t get to it. I hope that’s OK.
